L’Academy difficilmente premia le serie fantasy. Tuttavia non è detto che, quest’anno, il miracolo non possa accadere visto che la serie cult Il trono di spade si è aggiudicata ben 24 nomination alla 67esima edizione degli Emmy Awards, attesa per il 20 settembre a Los Angeles. La serie di Hbo, ispirata ai celebri romanzi di George R. R. Martin, gareggia anche come miglior drama, insieme al saffico/carcerario Orange is the new black, all’ex vincitore dell’anno scorso House of cards, all’ultima stagione di Mad Men, all’inglese Downton Abbey, al cult Homeland e allo spin off di Breaking Bad, Better call Saul.Corrono invece come miglior comedy Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, Louie, il discusso Transparent di Amazon, Silicon Valley, Veep e Unbreakble Kimmy Schmidt.
Tra i titoli più gettonati, oltre a Il trono di spade, figurano American Horror Story: Freak Show, con 19 nomination, e Olive Kitteridge con 13 nomination. Entrambi gareggiano anche nella categoria migliore miniserie, scontrandosi con Honorable Woman e Wolf Hall. Da segnalare la crescente presenza di Netflix, che piazza sia House of cards sia Orange is the new black, e l’ascesa di Amazon che entra nella storia degli Emmy con la serie sulla famiglia trans Transparent. Il titolo vanta 4 nomination tra le quali quelle per miglior comedy e miglior attore protagonista (Jeffrey Tambor). Tra gli esclusi eccellenti: The Americans, The Big Bang Theory, Jane The Virgin e la nuova creatura di Shonda Rimes Le regole del delitto perfetto. Per quanto riguarda le reti, a fare incetta di nomination è Hbo, a quota 126. Seguono a distanza la Abc (42), Nbc e Cbs entrambi a 41 e Fx con 38.
